Snorkelling off the Omani Dimaniyat Islands

The Dimaniyat Islands are nine small islands that lie some 20km north off the coast of Oman. After the hustle and bustle of Egypt and a long travel day into Muscat, we wanted to get the kids active and out into the environment. Odessa and Rafe were both keen to get in the water to see some fish up close, inspired by seeing plenty of fish in the Nile earlier in the trip. A little research suggested that the Dimaniyat Islands had the potential to deliver fish, and perhaps some other larger marine life.

How we did it
We booked a half day trip which included the equipment, boat ride and guide through Viator with Demaniyat Adventures. This ran from Seeb Port which is a few km west along the coast from central Muscat. Our departure left at 0830 from here.

Just enjoyed reading your latest travel information – what an amazing trip! Swimming with turtles looked awesome and camping in Oman looks very inviting as we experience lower temperatures and less sunshine. Keep the blogs coming! Best wishes to you all.

Thanks Susan. Yes it’s been a pretty good start to the trip. A little hectic perhaps, so we’re taking a little time out in one place right now. Oman really is a great place. It is easy to forget the UK is now properly into Autumn now. Actually we wouldn’t mind a little milder temperatures after the 40+ of Arabia! Hope you are well, will certainly keep the blogs coming
